Valve Steam Deck delayed until February 2022 due to material shortages

Earlier this year, the Valve Steam Deck was announced and it had gamers all around the world excited for its launch. However, today they revealed that this handheld console would be delayed until early next year.

Originally, Valve had planned to launch the Steam Deck in December 2021, but due to material shortages, they had to delay it to February 2022. This news won’t come as much of a surprise either, because several other consoles have suffered for the same reasons – the most popular examples being Sony’s PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

If you do want to pre-order the console, Valve will start taking more orders on February 2022, but if you have already reserved a slot, your Steam Deck will most likely ship out at the same time as well.

If you didn’t know, the Steam Deck is Valve’s take at a handheld console, that lets you play the majority of Steam’s PC games portably. The device comes with 16GB of RAM, up to 512 GB of internal storage that is expandable via a micro-SD and, has a 7-inch 1280×800 60Hz touchscreen display. The device can also be docked and connected to a separate screen.

Hopefully, Valve will continue shipping in February and there are no further delays on the console. If you would like to read more about the Steam Deck, head over to Steam’s website.
